Florence. A splendid villa is a real estate complex situated near a little town of San Casciano Val di Pesa, in province of Florence. According to the old maps this Villa is one of the first farms in the Chianti Classico region. The surface of the buildings of the estate covers totally 2600 sqm in perfect condition and includes a Manor Villa of XVI century, attibuted to Michelangelo, surrounded by a large park of about 1 ha, where we find also a farm of XIII century of 450 sqm. with large gates in florentine grey stone, typical of noble farms, an apartment with 5 bedrooms, dining room, spacious kitchen with ceramics Delft, terrace, 3 bathrooms, one forest house made by a famous designer and a barn for storage of equipment. The park is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.
The vineyard has 4,6 ha and 3.8 ha of which are registered to Consorzio del Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. Other 10,2 ha are used for olive trees of D.O.P. Chianti Classico.
It is very easy to reach the estate. There is a state road, which leads to the villa throught the oak alley. Besides this way there are another two roads which the first road is paralleled to the via Faltignano from the north side and another are decorated with cypresses.
The Villa is built in the shape of horseshoe and consists of several buildings.
The main building has three floors:
On the ground floor there are a kitchen with small pantry and laundry, a dining room, a living room, a hall, two rooms for library and a studio.
On the first floor there are a hall, an owner’s bedroom with a bathroom and two wardrobes, which are situated on the left side from the hall which connects the ground and the first floors, four bedrooms, three bathrooms on the right side from the staircase.
On the attic floor there are two wardrobes, one bedroom, a bathroom and a dining room. The base floor is dedicated mainly to the wine production and degustation process and this floor is the most old part of the property.
On the northern side of the building there is an two-level apartment with the external entrance, which is near the kitchen. On the ground floor there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the attic floor there are a kitchen, a living room with a dining room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and winding stairs which lead to the terrace with a marvelous view on the square of the famous Duomo in Florence. On the southern side there is a chapel. Also on this part there is a wine cellar where the wine and olive oil are produced and bottled. In the northern part of the ground floor there is a lemon section. Above it there is a small apartment.
The complex is surrounded by the wonderful gardens. In the heart of of the complex there is a marvelous Italian style garden with the stone columns. Not far there is a swimming pool with the stone borders, near the pool there is a green room with the stone seats. On the eastern side there is another garden with the place for a kitchen, furnace, dining area and a small pond with fish. On the northern side one can see the breathtaking tunnel made of roses.
On the left side from the main villa there is another small house: which is subdivided into two parts. The entrance to the first part is on the western side and the entrance to the second part is on the northern side. In the first part of the house on the ground floor there are a spacious living room which is connected with the studio, a kitchen, a laundry and a bathroom, on the first floor there are three bedrooms, a studio and three bathrooms. The floors are connected by a stone staircase. In the second part of the house on the ground floor there are a kitchen, two living rooms, a bathroom and a pantry, on the first floor there are three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a studio and a wardrobe. All parts of the house have the access to the garden.
On the north-east there is a guest house. It is made of stone and has two floors. On the base floor there area bathroom and a wardrobe, on the ground floor there is a room which is used as a living room-dining room and a kitchen, also there is a small attic where a bedroom is situated. The attic and the basement are connected by a wooden staircase. There is another garden on the eastern side of the house.
On the left side in front of the small house there is a barn which is mainly used for storage of the equipment. This barn is situated on the hillside and faces Florence. Behind the bard there is a garden which is the best place to enjoy the view of the Duomo and a Chapel of Florence.
The most old part of the complex is situated in the small house and in the cellar which is on the basemant of the Villa.
From the 15th to the 18th centuries the Villa was the property of the Bizzini, the mayor of San Casciano. After the death of the family the Villa went to the Marsilli, the family from Siena. And thanks to this family the villa was restored. The frescoes which are the main part of the interior are of those time age.
In 1903, the villa was bought by the Florentine family Balboni, and since then it is known under this name
